Chris Morrow Forget Gravity is sort dreamy mid 90s inspired EP that fits perfectly in a playlist with it's Thames Valley forefathers such as Ride or Slowdive but with a cleaner, more modern aesthetic.

What I mean is that it is really good and cool and chill. Favorite track: Stay.

Max Woodhams Great coding music. Sweeping analogue synths, intelligent dream pop songwriting, big sounds all round. Favorite track: Symbiosis.

1.
I fail to see and doubts keep creeping in. The air is so cold it hurts my chest to breathe it in. Light fires at night to push back the void. The warmth can't escape it, I reach my fingers to my face. Something to hold. Somewhere I'll find.

Hyperion 04:39
We might walk all day But tonight we'll travel further in our minds When stories are told Of pain and happiness Will you sleep tonight? (I can't close my eyes in this place) Will you sleep tonight? (For fear of what I can't see anyway) We have chosen this. Our friends and loves to live With one more last throw The dice may fall our way Come with me And rest your eyes Come with me The sun is calling

Symbiosis 05:13

Stay 07:08
I never thought I'd see you again But here we are, together Breathe it in Breathe it in The mountains don't change in a year But since you've gone they've grown so high They've grown so high I cannot climb As water lowers it reveals a life that's past Is there room for one more lost soul? Stay, oh my love.

about

This is a type of music I've loved for a long time, but not had the resources to make to a high standard before. When working on synthesised music nowadays it is very possible to be overwhelmed by the shear number of options available to you for sound sources. So this EP was created with a deliberately limited selection of instruments. I was fortunate enough to be able to get my hands on a selection of vintage analogue synths and blend that with only 5 different software instruments, guitar and drum samples. Even for the drums, I limited myself to only two different sampler kits, the famous 808 and a more punchy, rocky, custom sampler kit. Of course there is singing too!

Lyrically the EP is inspired by situations in stories I know from film, books and TV. The most obvious of these being Hyperion, the name also borrowed from Dan Simmon's novel about a group of Pilgrims hoping for salvation but perhaps expecting death. Stay is based on French TV series The Returned (Les Revenants) and is about a love for lost ones. Finally, Fires at Night is inspired by Jon Snow's travels north of the wall in A Song of Ice and Fire (Game of Thrones), which is probably famous enough to not require further explanation.

I do hope you enjoy the music, I have more of this already written and could have perhaps waited to release a full length album with it all, but in the end I selected 5 tracks that sat nicely together and released it quickly rather than hanging around and waiting for a couple more tunes to finish themselves. Or worse, forcing it.
